What Boo is

Boo is a terminal appliance built on Arch Linux. It starts Ghostty full-screen instead of starting a desktop.

Chromium can open on demand in a managed full-screen workspace. Boo does not include a desktop environment, panel, launcher, general-purpose window manager, or Xwayland.

Install

1. Download the image matching your graphics hardware.
2. Verify the compressed image with the SHA-256 value on the download page.
3. Write the Zstandard-compressed raw disk image to a USB drive.
4. Boot the USB drive in UEFI mode and follow the installer.

Review the selected disk and installation layout before confirming. The whole-disk option erases the selected target.

Recovery

Boo keeps key-only SSH, tty2, and serial access available for administration and recovery.
